FWIW, my view was that Paynter played rather as one might expect; a bit rusty 
and lacking sharpness early on, but gradually improving as the game wore on 
(then needing to be subbed just about when he was.) Sadly, I felt his lack of 
sharpness cost us dearly though...........the timing and manner of the 1st goal 
was absolutely crucial, and it all stemmed from Paynter standing flat-footed as 
the ball was knocked in to his feet near the centre circle, and allowing the 
defender to step in front of him and win it.

I saw enough good things from him in the second half to say though that I would 
just about prefer him up front to Becchio. I wanted Paynter to score 
desperately........partly to help us win the tie, but even more to make Grayson 
at least think about picking him ahead of Becchio. As it is, I am sure Lucky 
Luciano will be back for the Portsmouth contest (if fit.)
