FWIW, my view was that Paynter played rather as one might expect; a bit rusty and lacking sharpness early on, but gradually improving as the game wore on (then needing to be subbed just about when he was.) Sadly, I felt his lack of sharpness cost us dearly though...........the timing and manner of the 1st goal was absolutely crucial, and it all stemmed from Paynter standing flat-footed as the ball was knocked in to his feet near the centre circle, and allowing the defender to step in front of him and win it.
I saw enough good things from him in the second half to say though that I would just about prefer him up front to Becchio. I wanted Paynter to score desperately........partly to help us win the tie, but even more to make Grayson at least think about picking him ahead of Becchio. As it is, I am sure Lucky Luciano will be back for the Portsmouth contest (if fit.) _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman-new.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
