I disagree that it's about individuals, it's more about what players we have in
what positions.....

The team struggles when we play 2 wingers and Howson/Killa because neither
Howson nor Killkenny are good at shielding the defence. As much as I do not
rate Johnson Killkenny looks a different player with him and Howson in as he
doesn't have to work back as much, this also helps out our frail defence and we
look a much better team.

The issue then is to drop Max or Snoddy, and this is where Grayson has had
issues as I don't think he likes to drop either which then means he has to dick
about with the 3 central midfielders.

Drop Johnson and we ship goals, drop Snoddy / Max and we lose out on the supply
for Beccio's taps ins.

Now we get to Beccio....I don't rate him, I'll be honest, but I think combined
with the wingers we have he will always score plenty because he's good at
anticipating those crosses and through balls, however, his style of play
stifles any other sort of attacking momentum, too many times he can't control a
pass or dwells too long on the ball, and contrary to common belief, he can't
knock a ball on with his head. As far scoring record, Max scored 2 less goals
in the same amount of games....from the wing...and Somma scored 12 in very
limited game time.

What I would do in the summer, assuming Killa goes, is to find a good defensive
midfielder with some creativity to screen the back 4 and create chances,
problem is that's probably a player that would cost >£3mill.

I'd keep Beccio but rotate more between him, McCormack and Somma.

Mark K.

THe facts sppeak for themselves Sean:

We lost 12 games in this campaign:

Do you remember:

Preston 4-6
Cardiff 0-4
Cardiff 1-2
Sheff Utd 0-2
Leicester 1-2
Millwall 2-3
Palace 0-1

That's 7 defeats that all have one thing in common - Kilkenny didn't start in
them. Against Cardiff we were starting with Andy Faye in preference - joke
decisions.

Come on, it just can't be a coincidence.

Sean,

That's rubbish. Kilkenny is no world beater granted and I don't think he'd
survive in the premiership but the fact remains we are a much better team when
he plays and he has been our most creative and best midfielder this season.

Exactly.

Against Burnley He had a great game: closed down, tackled and passed well. But
90% of games, if we don't have the ball he might was well not be on the pitch.
His favourite trick is, when under pressure, to not hoof the ball, but pass it
short to a centre half (who is under even more pressure) so THEY have to hoof
it.

A luxury player, and the only player that's so lightweight that I've seen him be

injured intercepting the ball with his foot (Millwall - league 2 Play Off Semi
2nd leg). When he's had his testosterone injection, very good. Otherwise
tippy-tappy without Arsenal's skill or vision.
