Even if significant a statistic it means what you want.
I could reason that as he was so bad he was dropped.
The dropping unbalanced the team and they lost.
Meaning that he is  filling a vital function but not doing so well and is
dropped.
It does not mean he shouldn't have been dropped
It may well mean that his role is vital and he is not consistent or
reliable.
This seems to be the impression of a lot of the letters too.
