you can expand but if the product is getting worse people wont pay or come
and you end up filling it with freebies.

I'm in vocational education anyway  so I would like to see uni places capped
at 25% and the rest put into useful "skills for the modern economy" as we
call it.

It is a sad day when the kazakhs star calling our unis crap!

Well uni intake has gone from about 15% to 48% so obviously it's "easier" to
get in. I'd guess the fees increase is by far a greater disincentive than
any perceived reduction in standards. Indeed using the international
standards our uni's still kick everyone else into a cocked hat
proportionally to our intake and population.  Even in secondary education
the standards are rising, its just that other countries are rising more
quicklyier
