Well uni intake has gone from about 15% to 48% so obviously it's "easier" to get in. I'd guess the fees increase is by far a greater disincentive than any perceived reduction in standards. Indeed using the international standards our uni's still kick everyone else into a cocked hat proportionally to our intake and population.
