Arguing about why Woollies went bust may be entertaining (at least for a couple of you) BUT there is a big difference between supermarkets and football clubs - and that is the fans You may prefer one supermarket to another but if your preferred one stops doing what you like it for, then you stop going and go somewhere else , they are fighting over the same customers. If you don't like what your club is doing then you just stop going - you do not (in the vast majority of cases) transfer your custom elsewhere. I agree that LUFC needs to have as many revenue streams as we can - whether a hotel in Beeston or Yorkshire radio will ever bring in cash is a moot point - but what is clear is that any profits that these 'subsidiaries' bring in MUST be spent on our core business which is Leeds United Football Club. The football team is the raison d'etre for all these other money raising activities and that is what the present regime need to understand They need to convince fans that the hotel etc will be profitable in the long term and then that profit will be used to help finance the core business In ten years time if Leeds United are in the football conference with crowds of a few hundred but Billy's Bar is the number one pub in Leeds do you think we will all be on the Billys Bar email list discussing the guest ales or the new menu ?No , of course nor, all we are interested in is Leeds United football team Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
