I never claim to know anything. It is you who is claiming Bates is
definitely underpaying our players, so prove it.

I am saying that it is unreasonable to expect ANY championship club, who do
not have parachute payments OR a sugar daddy, to be able to compete with ANY
contract offered by ANY premiership club.

More importantly, and you really need to understand this, I am also saying
that it is unreasonable to expect the club to compete with ANY championship
club who are in receipt of parachute payments, OR who have a sugar daddy.

Because of that, it is unreasonable to expect us to be paying high enough
wages to convince our players, who apparently need convincing, we are
"serious" about getting promoted, because that level of wages is
unsustainable without parachute payments or a sugar daddy.

Regardless of where we rank in the championship in terms of ticket prices
and gate receipts.

Let me rephrase for clarity, in my opinion it is entirely unreasonable to
expect our wages (and transfer) budget, compared with other championship
clubs, to be directly ranked alongside our ticket prices/gate receipts.
Because there are too many clubs who have artificially high wage/transfer
budgets due to parachute payments or sugar daddies.

Because of that, it is unreasonable to expect us to be able to demonstrate
ambition to players based simply on wages/transfer budget - BECAUSE WE WILL
NEVER BE IN THE TOP 2, AND UNLIKELY TO BE IN THE TOP 6 based on that
criteria.

I also don't believe, based on what HOWSON HIMSELF SAID that the size of the
contract on offer had anything to do with him not signing a contract.
I also don't believe, based on what HOWSON HIMSELF SAID, that he perceived
any lack of ambition to get promoted based on wages/transfers.
I also don't believe Bates is putting enough dosh into the club, but I don't
believe it would make much material difference because there is no way we
could compete with parachuted clubs anyhow.

That's all I have to say on the matter.

But Mark, you don't usually need to know anything, you only have to think
it.
