That's an over-reaction. It's hard to disagree with Pontus's remarks in the Guardian - we were out-muscled in midfield. Can't see how Vieira didn't get a chance ahead of Phillips - yes, Phillips started the season better than expected, but he wasn't the player to anchor a midfield away to a local rival.
Also, teams seem to have caught on to the fact that we will *always* try to play the ball square for someone else to take it on, like we're a sodding rugby league team or something, so if they press us we're screwed. But I'm going to lay most of the blame on Weidwald, whose awful 'keeping allowed the first goal and then unnerved the defence. ed.
