>From my perspective $3500 would be way too high. The CNC side of this
machine would be a complete mystery and major risk. It likely works fine
but there is no support from Legacy and even if the stepper motors work
well, if you are missing any one part, it could impact the practicality of
using the machine at all as a CNC. You still need a computer, correct
software and the configuration files to make it run properly.

If I was to buy this machine, I would only buy it as a 1500 with the stated
accessories and would not assume the CNC side of it. If I was able to get
the CNC working, some of the parts, like the 4xgear would have no use as
you don't need the gears for pitching, the index plates or directional
gears. You can't use the templating functionality with the CNC so those
accessories are not useful either.

I recently sold a model 2000, with all the bells and whistles and several
bits for only $2500 and that was for a model 2000 which is a much larger
machine.

I bought my 1200 Performance CNC for $2200 3 years ago. Even though I am
selling it, I have been very happy with it. I have added things to it so it
is a better machine today than when I bought it. However, I had to figure
out how to get it working completely on my own. There is no support from
Legacy and I was digging through forums that were 10 years old to get the
pieces of information I needed. For me it was actually a lot of fun but I
would have a hard time imagining someone else going through the same
process.

In no way am I trying to disparage someone from buying this awesome looking
machine. I have just seen so many of these machines and there is often
something missing. I just love the machines and usually have the parts to
fill in the gaps. Well I used to have all the parts :).

I found a brand new 1800 last year in an estate sale. The owner got it from
her father and had no idea what to do with it or interest in it. She was
asking $2000 for it. I looked it over. It was missing a few small, but key
parts, and was not put together properly. I told her about the machine and
that my interest was only in some of the accessories. In the end, I bought
it for $500, spent hours putting it together properly, replaced some of the
missing parts and then sold it for $1000. Not a business for me, but I got
a good deal, the person who bought it got a good deal and I, hopefully,
helped someone get a good start with one of these mills.

Anyway, something to consider.
