As I said before, Legacy can take care of things if you just point the way
with the "remapping" tool. However, I would bet that you could do a global
search and replace with any text editor on the Ancestry.com GEDCOM file to
change "UID" to "_UID" and that Legacy would then read the file OK. I have
compared the Legacy and Ancestry files side by side and the DATA beside the
UID tags is the same in both files.

Thanks Robert, that may help a lot. My memory is that the GEDCOM 5.5
"standard" requires the underline prefix for all user defined fields, so
it's a valuable heads up that Ancestry may not follow that at all. I may
have to work with GEDCOMS to do things where Legacy doesn't provide a
mechanism, like changing UIDs. I'll download an Ancestry GEDCOM, look at it
to see what's what, and try to dope out APID.

Thanks also for the Autosource warning.

... tags that were unrecognized in the Ancestry.com file... ... are "UID"
and "APID". ... ... and pick the entry "_UID"... ...But please note, do NOT
assign an autosource to the import records, or every record in the file will
look like it's changed to Legacy.
