I started this 3-bar mess today, and all I've suggested is a warning
to the effect that "Hey, are you sure this event applies all 15
pre-existing events". I don't think that is asking too much.

Other things I've been bitten by - adding photos to vital events,
adding address to vital events, adding notes to vital events - though
painful to go back and put hacks to workaround them DO NOT make a mess
of the database. Use of this button has made a mess of my database,
and based on todays thread and the archives I'm not the only one.
That makes this a much bigger deal. I don't know how to even start to
recover from it. I have many backups, but I have no idea where and
when I've messed this up. There is no query that can be run to get me
all the people that have had the wrong sources applied. The only
thing I can think to do is to one by one look at the source list for
every individual. Having the list up, then go look at the actual
source and see if it applies to the event it's attached too. I think
that would be faster than starting over, but starting over is the only
other option I can think of. Bottom line, this button has risk
associated with it, and as such should give a warning to that effect.
Give the warning an option to turn it off once you understand what it
does - its a win - win. Newbies like me get coached along as expected
from theirs software, while the old pros can turn it off and forget
about it.

Stating 'the help file told you so' here in the archives does not help
to rectify the problems that have already been created, nor do I
believe will it prevent some other newbies in the future from making
the same mistake. It would be great if we could all memorize the help
files or were so disciplined to open the help files before each and
every button click as some of you seem to be. I am not that person,
as a software developer myself, I know the majority of software users
are not either.
