First off, do not hijack an existing thread to ask a new question. Besides being rude, the person who may have the answer you seek may be ignoring the thread you hijacked and you may not get a solution you seek. Start a new thread by selecting to wright a new email (varies from one email program to another, check your help file) addressed to [email protected]. In the Subject line, enter the gist of your question. You will have better responses that way. Second, turn off HTML as stated in the Guidelines. There is a link to them at the bottom of each email so you can review them. There are a number of people who will not respond to an HTML formatted message. Improve your chances of receiving a helpful response by playing by the "rules." (Their sandbox - their rules) Third, trim unnecessary bits and detritus from the end of any message you reply to. It really is not necessary to have 14 sets of links to Legacy help and it is inconsiderate to the people sill on dial-up or are paying by the volume of downloaded traffic. Finally, to answer your question. 1) You do not say if they have any genealogy program at all, but if they do, export your file to a gedcom 5.5 file and send that to them. They can then import that into whatever program they are using. 2) If they do not, encourage them to download and use Legacy Basic. In that instance, send them a copy of the original Legacy (*.fdb) file. 3) The last alternative, and one that I use, is to purchase Genviewer from the Legacy store and use that to create a self-viewing gedcom. Check to allow gedcom extraction and then they can view the information in Genviewer, extract the gedcom and import it into their Gene program or import it into Legacy. -- Gene Y. http://myyoungs.atspace.com/index.htm Researching Young, Zies, Harer & Cox with Legacy Family Tree Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
