This is something I have wrestled with as well. I have family lore
stories, military records, and other assorted documents in PDF or Word
format that I'd like to insert into a "book." "Place Holder" pages
are fine, except you can only put them between "chapters" in the book.
I'd like the story/document to immediately follow that person's
information, not at the end of his/her generation's chapter, or worse
- in an appendix at the end of the book.
My current method is: After creating the "book" in PDF format with
Legacy, I can place these special pages anywhere with my PDF editing
program. The problem with this is my added pages are not covered by
the Legacy-generated Table of Contents or Index. My current solution
for page numbering is to individually number my special pages as a, b,
c, etc. E.G., the special pages following page 126 would be 126a,
126b, 126c, etc. Finally, I rewrite the Table of Contents to include
my added pages. A royal pain in the neck, but doable. Even more of a
pain when making custom books for different family members where the
paging might be a bit different. Or, if I add a new person or
information - it's back to square one!
If anyone has a better or easier method, I'd like to hear it.
It would be wonderful if Legacy could find a way to insert "Place
Holder" pages anywhere within a "book." (FYI - I did submit that idea
as a "suggestion" some time ago.)
