Jenny: My source citations also include alternate spellings exactly as they were written, but names included in source citations aren't found in Internet searches. I also like to use diacriticals in names but those aren't found either, so I have them with diacriticals in the preferred spelling and without as an alternate name.

I don't actually understand why people see a need to include alternate spellings in the AKA fields. I record alternate spellings as and where they occur, so this might be in the Event Description or the BMD Notes and in the Source Citation. People weren't usually "known by" these alternate spellings, they were just something that cropped up sometimes when their name was written down. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
