Being a 100% non-expert in all matters, I've been using probate records as Sources, also. Where I've had the opportunity to attach a will to a witness to use as a Source for residence/alive/relationship Events, I haven't done so because of uncertainty.
I literally can't tell if this 1790s John Johnson is THE 1790s John Johnson, so I leave will-witnessing out rather than incorporate false info. If only he was named "Josephat Whataguy" - something distinguishable. Does anyone create "possible" Events, similar to Sources where you can rate the reliability of the Source or do you just leave out uncertain witnesses from your Legacy data?
