Bill, I found worldvitalrecords.com helpful, particularly in finding references in books. Footnote.com was great for Census records and Civil War and Revolutionary War records. The LDS website is fantastic, but it is "buyer beware." I say this as a lot has not been properly documented. All you need is one direct ancestor mistake to lead you astray for generations. Trust but verify. Wear out the LDS site to get names and dates and then use an on-line subscription to back it up with documentation. My experience is that both these sites, worldvitalrecords and footnote, will give you a seven day trial run. Schedule a week of vacation, kiss your wife goodbye, stay hydrated and wear out your seven day trial. Good luck!

Then you can use their 'free' connection, to determine if there is enough to use at their place, or order for at home. Each DB (Ancestry, World, NFS, etc) is growing and adding new records daily. What you need to do is decide what you want to find, then locate who has it (if anyone). Do not belittle the 'special'. For instance, there is a company that offers Swedish records, that is over my budget, but I try to get a two week or month 'pass' one a year. You might want to get the WVR month, but what I have found. You can somtimes pick the date range at paying, and aim it at your vacation. You may find something that destroys your biggest brick wall. Remember to unsubsc-ribe the next day, so no second month, or you may find so much to keep it.
