This is the problem with ALL of these third party mapping programs. They are written for "Today's" World and in a lot of cases are useless.
I for one will use them for a "Guide" only not to be fact, when it comes to older locations. I use more than one Family Research program and they all think I do not know what I a typing in. Just ignore the ERROR and use them as a tool to help locate the possible location. I do NOT like the fact that these programs have dropped the usage of the likes of "County", "Township" and etc. Thanks, David C Abernathy Email disclaimers ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message represents the official view of the voices in my head. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.SchmeckAbernathy.com == All outgoing and incoming mail is scanned by F-Prot Antivirus == -----Original Message----- From: Cheryl Rothwell [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, October 29, 2011 1:38 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Showing historical locations. I did that, went through all the "at the time" designations. They didn't work well with any program. Since Legacy busily tells me county X wasn't in existence at the time in question I have to assume it would balk at Massachusetts Bay Colony too. I was using another program then. There would be endless discussions about whether it should be America, British North America, American Colonies, etc. I went back to USA.
