Julia: Yes, including street addresses would give you a longer location list—but what’s the harm in that if it gives you the result you want? At the other extreme, we recently had a thread where a few users suggested using only modern location names rather than the place name at the time of the event (the recommended procedure). The objective there was to shorten and simplify the location list and avoid having multiple locations for a town that was originally in one county and then later in another, or perhaps first in a colony and later in a state. You just have to decide what methods suit you best.
If you’re looking for thorough data entry guidance, I would suggest _Getting It Right_ by Mary H. Slawson. She explains what to enter in each of Legacy’s fields. The book used to be available through Millennia; I don’t see it listed there now, but it is at Amazon. That is interesting about putting the address in there behind the city. But wouldn't that lead to a very large location list? Instead of having one entry, eg for Detroit,County,State,Country, there would be numerous entries in the location list for Detroit, as well as numerous entries for other cities as well. Forgive me for repetitious or mundane questions, but I'm still a little frustrated trying to figure out how best to use the power of Legacy for my needs.
