Tami: It really depends on your goals. I document "all" people of my surname that lived in certain areas. For example all "Kemp" families that lived in Ireland and for the surname: Garcelon or Starbird - I save everyone of them that I can find.
Why? Like you say - I've found that sooner or later I will fit them in to the family tree. Now with the terrific online trees it is also easy to add them at Ancestry, FamilySearch and other sites. I like the idea that once I've planted and documented a family on those sites the data will be available for years to come. I tend to keep the linked family data on those two sites and of course in my Legacy program too.
