That's what's happened to me with surname filing - interested in how it works (since I hear so many people refer to it) but too deep into my own method to switch gears. Maybe for the first thousand people but after awhile it's too much to move.
What you do sounds somewhat similar to mine. The folders are nested from the direct lines down so anyone who doesn't want to use the MRIN's can still find their way around.
