I have seen many filing systems for multimedia.  Those who commented have great 
ideas and experience with it.  One thing that was not mentioned is the problem 
of collaboration when more than one researcher is collecting multimedia.  The 
simple solution is to create a folder at the root level of the hard drive for 
each collaborator.  Then each collaborator maintains control over the contents 
of his/her folder as copies of the database are sent back and forth.  Any 
sub-folders or naming methods can be designed within the root level folder by 
the researcher in control of that folder.  Regular use of Ltools "Rename 
Non-Unique Multimedia" will help eliminate duplicate file names which can be a 
problem with multiple folders.Ron Taylor
