Brian gave you a good answer for numbering. One thine that I would add which was implied but may not have been clear is that Legacy will generate the Ahnentafel numbers based on anyone in your database. Likewise for other numbering systems. Don't spend time trying to manually add any numbering system to your file. As soon as you collaborate with someone else, they will probably want the numbering customized for their purposes. RINs, MRINs, Ahnentafel, etc. will change based on which file contains the data and who the computations have as their base. The important thing is to have families linked correctly in the genealogy database of your choice and then let the computer do the numbering. Ron Taylor
