Funny you should bring this up to-day because I have spent several hours to-day re-numbering my UserIDs. When I first started family history research I decided to create UserIDs which were a combination of RIN and a letter/number combination which is an indication of which of my 4 grandparent lines the person belongs to and whereabouts in the tree (which generation) they are. Because I didn't realise how far I was going to get and hadn't thought it through, the old system needed a slight modification which *should* have been relatively simple, but owing to not fully engaging brain and various little errors made over the years it has taken me a *long* time to get the first branch sorted! I think the other 3 won't take so long. I think it will be very helpful to be able to look at a person and know instantly which "level" they are on. Keeping track of people's RINs makes it fairly simple to distinguish between several people with the same name. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
