Kathy, I do not know the meaning of "booked in" either, it may simply mean that the church involved had been booked for the marriage - hence the charity donation.
It would not mean banns (that's proclamation) and since there is a proclamation after that date it cannot mean marriage (which would be held after the proclamations had been completed).
