There are tools in FamilySearch such as Discussions and Sources which were lacking from the old IGI and which will, given time, improve the situation.
When Legacy Family Search is granted the next level of certification (Tree Share Plus) you will be able to transfer sources from your Legacy file to FamilySearch in support of your data. Before you ask though I do not know at what level those sources will be used. They may only be sources at the person (similar to the Legacy unspecified) level and not for each bit of data like a birth date or event. Eventually properly sourced data in Family Search will provide proof of the accuracy of data. The Discussions area is, I think, a means where discrepancies between possible duplicates or variations in data can be discussed by those who are actively researching the person.
