Thank you for your response.

The problem isn't so much where I deliberately click. It is that while
dragging my index finger across the touchpad (moving the cursor) I can all
to easily get a spurious tap (click).

If the single click did not open the Individual Information form it would
not be so maddening. It is much less likely to accidentally double tap. I
just wish it would work the standard way it does in most Windows programs.
