I can't think of many instances in Legacy where I would want to copy anything 
from one field to another *within the same individual,*

Also your original post did imply that the Windows shortcut keys for Copy and 
Paste required you to be copying from another application.

But I don't think we need to pursue this.  I'm glad you raised the topic 
because I have learned something which I am sure is going to useful.
