Margaret Thank you for information
I am using V7 Used my backup CD. Don’t remember what files I selected – think it was both data and media. Version 7 or the new version 8. What steps did you follow when you were doing back ups? Joan, I have only V7 so this is how I could do a backup in two ways: 1. Using the menu option across the top of the screen File | Backup File Do you remember if you had Data Files selected and do you know which drive it save to (you mentioned a CD - is this your backup or the Legacy-purchased installation CD?) 2. When you closed your legacy program, and it may have prompted you to do a backup. This may help you to assist others in trying to solve your problems: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions#show-hide-file-name-extensions=windows-vista :) Margaret On 22 March 2014 21:48, Joan <[email protected]> wrote: Had another try to install - I get the message this file doe not have an fdb extension. Hello Jenny When I put in disk to read it has a number of entries with dates and times backed up, doesn't have an extension. Info is stored on a CD To try and restore I followed the instructions in Legacy help. What is the FULL filename (including extension) of the backup file you are trying to restore? Where is the backup file stored? Step-by-step, exactly what did you do to attempt to restore it? -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
