Alan,

You can edit the wording for shared events either globally by
changing the sentence definitions or case by case with the sentence
override. The sentence override can use codes so may not need to be
different for every family member.

Also, have you discovered quoted names? It may not do what you want
if you want to use the exact name in the source for every different
event but I find it invaluable. When you choose to use quoted name in
narrative then if you entered the name as Anne "Annie" then the
narrative would use Annie. In events for this to happen you need to
use the code [FirstHeShe] or [FirstName].

The quotes go around the name by which someone was generally known.
The unquoted part of the name is the legal name.
eg: I have a family who had three names. They weren't necessarily
known by their first name. Some not by any of their names.
So I enter eg: Robert Walter Cooper "Roy"; Ethel Mary Joyce "Joyce"
as the given names.

I record in the census event notes the name used in the census enumeration.

May be useful to you.

That said, I haven't taken up shared events yet but I wasn't one of
the ones asking for them.

Cathy
