Are you intending to mention each and every postcard individually, or just make reference to the entire collection? I think this will make a difference how you handle it. I do not agree with Rick Bowden who says it is not appropriate to use a Postcard Event. Collecting these postcards could be viewed as a little hobby of your grandparents and they may well have "sat around" talking about the postcards, reviewing their collection and remembering the people who sent them and the places they came from. So I would certainly create an Event and explain that Grannie collected postcards over a period of years (specified) and describe the collection. I would use the collection as a Source for that. I would also extract useful information from individual postcards, as Rick suggests and again cite the collection as the Source, but use Source Details to reference the particular card. (I could go on to give all my reasons for creating Census Events, but I don't want to hijack this thread and the subject has been pretty comprehensively covered on this list already!) -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
