Hopefully if enough complaints are forthcoming, they will bring back the
pop-up information boxes on the family view. I have been playing with
Legacy 8 for a few days and I copied my family file to it. I paid for the
deluxe version yesterday, thinking that it would unlock that feature. It
didn’t.

I am finding the list view and right clicking quite annoying after
experiencing the better, easier way. At least I had the good sense to keep
my Legacy 7.5 with my family file intact because that’s what I have gone back to
using. I learned a valuable lesson though. In the future, I will do
a thorough try-out and ask questions before purchasing the product.

I would have to agree with Kathy - if you have 12 or 13 children in a
family the scrolling list means you have to use the scroll to see them all,
whereas best fit shows all the children at a glance - which is usually what you
need when searching. However the pop up information box was very useful to save
extra strokes to see what information you may be missing or whether checking if
the information you have belongs to one of the children. It was a time saving
and useful addition - could we ask that one day it could be reintroduced
please?

Thanks Sherry. That’s disappointing but it’s the way of the world

I guess I’ll right click because the scrolling thing is just too messy
looking, and it doesn’t show all the information that the pop-up information
boxes do. I fail to see the value in it. It also gives me a
runtime error and closes the program if I click on more than one child in the
  list for editing purposes.

  Popup
Information boxes was removed from Family View - they were replaced by the
Scrolling List (Grid) view, which can show a lot more
  information.

  Right click
on a child, select View > Scrolling List (Grid)

  You can
always right click on a child and select "Edit" as well.

I’m trying to learn the Legacy 8 deluxe features and I noticed that the
pop-up information boxes do not work in “family view”.
I really depended on that feature a lot in previous versions. It
made it so quick to check if anything was missing from an individual
and you could click on the edit button if changes were needed.
Now I have to move that person to the main person in order to see what I
have and/or add a birth date or source, or whatever. It really slows
things down when I have a list of children and I have to keep moving each
individual to the main window to see if everything is as I want it.
The pop-up information boxes work in pedigree view so it makes me
wonder if I’m missing some setting. I checked the help file, and I
have the little box to show pop-up boxes checked in the list of customised
    options.

If that feature isn’t working, I hope they get it implemented very
    soon.
