I’m not a fan of work arounds. If I bought a fridge and had to add ice blocks
to keep my milk from souring, that would be a work around. I wouldn’t be
happy that I wasted my money.

I still miss the information pop-up as well.
Another (and quicker work around is to set up the Descendant View with useful
columns and limit it to 2 or 3 generations and you can get that overview you
used to be able to get by mousing over the children and seeing the pop-up.
I also find the scrolling grid next to useless as you can't see all the
children at once. It's fine for recent families but not for previous
generations where I spend my time.

I would have to agree with Kathy - if you have 12 or 13 children in a
family the scrolling list means you have to use the scroll to see them
all, whereas best fit shows all the children at a glance - which is
usually what you need when searching. However the pop up information
box was very useful to save extra strokes to see what information you
may be missing or whether checking if the information you have belongs
to one of the children. It was a time saving and useful addition -
could we ask that one day it could be reintroduced please?

Thanks Sherry. That’s disappointing but it’s the way of the world
.... when something works really well and we start depending on
it, it will more than likely get changed.
I guess I’ll right click because the scrolling thing is just too
messy looking, and it doesn’t show all the information that the
pop-up information boxes do. I fail to see the value in it. It
also gives me a runtime error and closes the program if I click on
more than one child in the list for editing purposes.

Popup Information boxes was removed from Family View - they were
replaced by the Scrolling List (Grid) view, which can show a lot
      more information.

Right click on a child, select View > Scrolling List (Grid)

You can always right click on a child and select "Edit" as well.

I’m trying to learn the Legacy 8 deluxe features and I noticed
that the pop-up information boxes do not work in “family view”.
I really depended on that feature a lot in previous versions.
It made it so quick to check if anything was missing from an
individual and you could clic k on the edit button if changes
were needed. Now I have to move that person to the main person
in order to see what I have and/or add a birth date or source,
or whatever. It really slows things down when I have a list of
children and I have to keep moving each individual to the main
window to see if everything is as I want it.
The pop-up information boxes work in pedigree view so it makes
me wonder if I’m missing some setting. I checked the help
file, and I have the little box to show pop-up boxes checked
in the list of customised options.
&nb sp; If that feature isn’t working, I hope they get it implemented
          very soon.
          Kathy
