The only way to update your Ancestry tree is if you have Family Tree Maker 2014 and you do an import from a Legacy GEDCOM file. If your Legacy data is more current than I would scrap the online tree then export to a GEDCOM from Legacy. If your data online is more current, then I would export from Ancestry then import into a new file in Legacy. You could also do a merge within Legacy, but that is usually very time consuming in any genealogy software because of duplicate names.
I keep my Ancestry tree and Legacy data current so they match each other. I've tried the FTM way and found FTM and Ancestry trees just were not compatible at all. I finely resign to the fast that the only way around this was to delete the Ancestry tree, then upload a new tree from Legacy. With over 17,000 in my Legacy data base, all my work is done in Legacy. Then upload, via a Gedcom, once a year to Ancestry with a new tree. I don't think Ancestry has the capability to make a revision or addition by doing a Gedcom. Let me know if there is a way of doing this. Walt Munza Duluth, GA
