David,

Missing media is a different issue. Use the Tools - Media Relinker if you haven't renamed the file outside of Legacy.
Legacy just links to media so you can't take it off your computer.

Missing data really is usually because you've opened a different file. See this article to see how to check if you may have. http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00895/

If you continue to have problems, contact [email protected]

The original message to the list is in the attachment.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy
imposed by some email providers. Users who want to send messages
without conversion to attachments should use a different email address
for their subscription.

Known providers for free email accounts whose emails do not require
this conversion include gmail.com and hotmail.com. Many other email
providers will also work but you will have to give them a try.

Jay,

If some of your data is missing, the most likely thing is that you've opened a different file.

The idea of bringing in data from a gedcom backup from 2004 sounds silly if the data was there recently. What's wrong with the last Legacy backup?

Very very occasionally there are clashes with other programs that can cause a list to look empty apparently. I've not seen this myself. Some get it on some lists with TeamViewer running.

The other reason data goes missing is that for some reason you delete it or it was Private data and you exported to a new file without overriding Privacy settings.

Looked at my personal data in Legacy 9 today, noticed there were no events for me! Looked for my oldest backup data. Found at least some of the missing events in a gedcom file backup from 1/14/2004.

Did the split screen import to add them into my current data. This is scary! No idea how much data has been lost from my records!

Would appreciate other Legacy users checking your current file to see if you are missing events for person number one (RIN number one) in your file. And other people. Also watch for other missing data.

I hope to check newer backups to see about when the data disappeared. Can not do today.

Jenny - Look for the task view icon at the bottom of your PC screen. It usually is on the left side right after the magnifying glass icon. Clicking on it will show all the open programs you are using. You can then click on the program you want to see.
