Jack,
I would say the best way is to only enter a person into the database ONCE and then use "link to existing person" when you need to put them into a relationship. The only time you should need to merge is if you didn't realize that you already had a person in your database, and you entered them again for a different relationship.


I guess I don't know what you mean by "persons having more than one relationship". A person can really only be a child, spouse, or parent. The rest happen by default.
