You can define an Event called "Fact". In the Event definition screen for the "Fact" Event, you can exclude the "superfluous date".

Functionally, what's the difference?

Margaret

Legacy does not have facts. Legacy does have events. Events are facts with dates. Such as a birth EVENT. As in Uncle Joe was born on Sep 12, 1908, in Chicago Illinois. It is a a fact that Uncle Joe was born in Chicago. Event's and Facts are different. Other Gen programs have both Facts and Events and I wish Legacy would include facts because I think they enhance collecting genealogical information. While it may be your OPINION that they are "redundant and cumbersome" other genealogists, myself included, regard them as efficient, because in recording say a person's eye color there is no wasted space for a superfluous date.
