Thanks Dennis, I can understand it now. Yes I was burning it to a CD right from the legacy progam.
Hey Sherry, Legacy needs to make it easier for us older folks to be able to copy and transfer (smile)

You are probably correct, but I am missing what you are saying (smile). How
can I save it to my hard drive if I can't open the CD?

Use Windows Explorer to copy/paste the database from CD to hard drive.

Maybe I am not understanding what you mean by "I can't open the CD". Maybe the
problem is that you are writing the database directly to the CD using Legacy.
As I recall, this might work but is not supported or recommended. What you
should do is use "Backup Family File..." to create a .zip on your hard drive.
Then use your CD software (outside of Legacy) to burn the .zip to the CD. Put
this CD in the laptop and use Windows Explorer to copy the .zip to the
laptop's hard drive. Then start Legacy and use the "Restore Family File..."
option.

Hope this helps...
