In the past this topic has come up several times. And although What I
say may not work for many I 'm going to throw my idea out. I always
place the maiden name of a woman in the SURNAME spot. I then place her
married name into Title Suf. My preference is set: having the
Surname in all capitals letters. So the name of a woman would look like
this
Iva Beatrice PRATT Daniels indicating maiden name and secondly
married name
There are always situations that you need to bend the rules: So what I
do when I know the woman was married before. I place ( the married
name inside the brackets) (Keplinger) This bracketed name is placed
within the first name data entry.
Iva Beatrice (Keplinger) PRATT Daniels
her married name is Daniels
her maiden name is PRATT
her previous married name was Keplinger.
For example of multi marriages would be my grandmother:
Iva Beatrice (Keplinger) (Robertson) (Ruthrford) PRATT Daniels
Her maiden name is Pratt, (because its capitalized and she was married
4 times.
