In events I use the word "Contact" and put the address, date of contact and any additional notes below. This way I know that the person listed is not a part of my database, not a descendant in my database, yet has some connection that I explain in the notes. I try to get an address and telephone number, along with an e-mail address. I have found that e-mail addresses change and then I have no way to contact this person that may be pertinent to someone else in my database. Also, I use "Contact" to list people from ancestry.com who seem to have a connection. However, when I see someone at ancestry.com who lists a database of 45,000 + then I know most are just collecting, collecting, collecting for the sheer number of the exercise and usually have no connection other than to be 'harvesting' information. I do not list these folks. For those of you who use ancestry.com I am sure you can understand this assessment.
Hoping to see a lot of you in Chicago at the National Genealogy Society conference in June! Last year was my first year of attendance, and I hope that I will not miss another one, as the conference was excellent. There were 20 possible classes/sessions and I filled all my time slots. Out of the 20 there was only one which was less than stellar! What a record for learning. Regards, Cynthia N.
