Hi Steve,

thank you for your suggestions.

I'm so sorry that you couldn't really help me. Baron and Graf are no more titles in Germany and parts of Europe. Titles in Legacy are just things like: Dr., Prof. and so on. Baron and Graf are part of the surname. But when I place "von" to the surname field so I have thousands of von's and can't find the name in an alphabethic manner.
For example the correct way should be: Dr. Johann Baron von Moller.
I must be able to search and sort M like Moller and not "von" and not "Baron" (The daughter of him would be called "Baronesse von Moller", and the wife would be "Baronin von Moller" ) I have 20,000 titled names on my computer. You see it seems to be a little difficult. And when I use them completly as a title, it would be very funny to read: Dr. Baron von Johann Moller.

I know there are other programms which use Surname Prefixes, but I do prefer and like Legacy over all.

Maybe someone else may be able to help me and thousands of German nobles.

Anyway, thank a lot
Hans

Hi,
Can anybody help me? Is there a chance to create a special field: Surname
Prefix? To be used for Surname Prefixes like: von, Baron von, Graf von, and so
on. Would be very helpful. TNG uses Surname Prefixes and I would like to
upload my Legacy dates properly. At the moment I still have it in the Suffix
field. But that ist not the right way to show the complete name properly.

Baron and Graf are titles, and should go in the title field.

O put things like von in the Surname field, and there are some surnames like Jansen van Rensburg and Janse van Vuuren, and I just put those in the surname
field.

Second question: We have sometimes a lot of first names: i.e. Arthur Johann Martin Gabriel. In this case the second name Johann is the "called name". How
can I mark this name as "called name"?

Someone said that if you put it in quotes it will be used in the reports. I
haven't tried yet, but I used to put it in the aka field.
