That's a good idea indeed - I'll see to that.
It's true that it's mention in the lejos-discussion, but finding
references there takes lots of digging. As a beginner, trying to
follow the tutorial, I just assumed there was something wrong with my
software setup or RCX, which wasted lots of my time. -David
ps I never had any problems with the lego bundled software, under the
same conditions, so I think the infrared communication is exacerbated
when using lejos, but presumably if this was easy to fix you would
have done so :-).

As a matter of fact, there has been efforts (by Markus Heiden in
particular) to increase reliability (contained in leJOS cvs's
src/comms/lib(j)irctrcx2 folders) - however, they aren't working for
Linux presently, hence haven't made it to the distribution yet.
