vnodes aren't positions though.  Durable vnode ids are working for
backlinks.py.  Vnodes persist until they're specifically destroyed, the
"interesting" part is that they can occur at more than one position.

I think the value of links (as would be enabled by vnode ids) outweighs
the issues associated with them breaking.  If they break they break,
either the target doesn't exist any more, or its identity's changed and
you'll have to search for it.
