I do not have the expertise to make it any easier. It would be great to have a Mac guru help us, but no one has stepped forward so far. In short, I don't have a great solution to your problem. As you say, experimenting with Qt and Leo may be risky. If you are willing to take that risk, there may be a good chance of getting Leo to work, but that risk is entirely yours.
