Sadly i was unable to compile the source on my computer (VS 2005). I also mailed Leo about it, when i don't hear from him, i'll send my problems to the mailing list. So, until then, let me propose my idea here. As i see it the problem could be solved by simply extruding a mesh along a spline. You draw a single line in 3d space that defines the path of your tube, cable or string. Then you extrude along that spline either a ring, a circle or a diffrent needed shape. I recently implemented something like this for a project of mine and would love to add it to the source. If there is interest in this of course. Well, so long.
