Motif. It's rather easy to get something in LessTif but in general
we were all the time just following what "they" did earlier.
Even with a CVS somewhere (speaking of OM) it's not clear to me in
which direction things will move. And I doubt that 2-3 individuals will be able
to specify/change the direction. (as opposed to LessTif - but
here the goals are rather well defined)

Very good point :-)
We do so in continuing our efforts.
I always have the idea in mind that all people which bring up statement
like yours live either on linux or *BSD - which is really not the whole world.
As long as Motif is not available as free software (i.e. no platform
restrictions) we can't stop. Or better: I don't want LessTif to stop.
So I don't see a correlation between improving Motif and development
on LessTif. If you want to stop our cloning work send ("daily" :-) petitions to the
copyright holders - not to the LessTif development team.
(imagine the situation we could have today if Motif would have become OM
5 years ago - but don't forget about software which did not benefit from going
open source. Hmm, I think it couldn't be worse ...)
BTW, WRT 2.1 -
not sure about the manpower which will back it, but in general LessTif's 2.x
library will improve now since it will become the default LessTif version
soon. This is similar to the old days when just the 1.2 version was
incomplete and default ...
