As the title states, I successfully booted my shiny new LFS-6.1.1

The next task at hand is to figure out how to
tweak the windows boot.ini file to default boot my LFS system. After
that I can modify any and all linux configuration files to suit my
tastes. Once I've accomplished that, it's on to the BLFS book. :-D

Hi Josh,
Here's a neat trick I learnt recently which I am very happy with :-)
If your BIOS allows you to select which disk to boot from (mine offers a
menu at boot time if I press F8) you can install grub on hdb without
having to overwrite your windows bootloader which is on hda.
Read up on grub and the make sure you understand what you are doing
first, but this is a "relatively" safe way to get to a hard disk
initialised linux.
When I turn on my PC I can select whether to boot from the first or
second hard disk as well as the CD etc... [Yes I still have M$oft at the
mo :-(]
Once you are happy you could then do some device mapping (in the
menu.lst) and add a few lines to boot from grub into Windows on the
"other" disk.)
Just start slowly and keep grub installed on your hdb drive only to
start with.
Obviously ignore this if your BIOS doesn't let you choose your boot hard
disk...
Congratulations...
Al
