goofy me.... I failed to tell you where I am in the process. I completed
the temporary toolchain and am now in section 6.9

Yes.... the debian works just fine. I had to apt-get some packages  to make
version-check check out but I got everything to work.  As for the glibc
error help when you can. What I really want is to learn the process in
troubleshooting and fixing packages so I don't need to always rely on
others.
