Yes. But Americans are not native here, only immigrants. When Cortez arrived in Mexico Valley in 1531 there was no colonists here. Cortez had destroyed every bit of Aztec art, he could put his finger on. Gold artifacts were melted down to build new monuments to victorious Christianity. First immigrants in USA were British outcasts. What they brought with them was a culture of slums. Of course, aristocracy who had received the lands in form of governships were also British. They would hire the immigrants, often enslaving them too with avrious laws and regulations. Otherwise, they had little to do with the immigrants arriving here to make new homes for themselves. But it should be of interest to many politicians that even now, this colonial aristocracy still holds the most power in USA.
