What they brought with them was a culture of slums. Of course, aristocracy who had received the lands in form of governships were also British. They would hire the immigrants, often enslaving them too with avrious laws and regulations. Otherwise, they had little to do with the immigrants arriving here to make new homes for themselves. > But it should be of interest to many politicians that even now, this colonial aristocracy still holds the most power in USA. > > Anna The USA was not established until 1776. The first immigrants to what became the USA were Spaniards who established colonies in La Floridas such as St. Augustine in 1565. English folks attempted a colony at Roanooke in 1587 but those folks mysteriously vanished or were killed. Jamestown was established by English in 1607. Unless an outcast were wealthy they would have had to immigrated by becoming an indentured servant because they would not have been able to pay for their passage to America. Even some who came to america as a member of a colony established by a company such as the one at Jamestown were indentured servants. Certainly the governor of a colony had servants for his household. The governor of Plimoth or Plymouth may not have because those folks were not sent to America by a company and they elected their governor whereas colonies established by companies had governors who were appointed by the board members of the company. $ > ----- Original Message ----- > From: hrearden_hr > To: [email protected] > Sent: Wednesday, November 16, 2005 9:10 PM > Subject: [Libertarian] Re: the truth.... > > > --- In [email protected], Deus Ex Machina <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > > > Anna [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > > What you are talking about is a subculture.
