At least two areas of the Americas were colonized prior to to 1531.
Guatemala was colonized in 1523 and Nicaragura was colonized in 1524.

immigrants arriving here to make new homes for themselves.

The USA was not established until 1776. The first immigrants to what
became the USA were Spaniards who established colonies in La
Floridas such as St. Augustine in 1565. English folks attempted a
colony at Roanooke in 1587 but those folks mysteriously vanished or
were killed. Jamestown was established by English in 1607. Unless an
outcast were wealthy they would have had to immigrated by becoming
an indentured servant because they would not have been able to pay
for their passage to America. Even some who came to america as a
member of a colony established by a company such as the one at
Jamestown were indentured servants. Certainly the governor of a
colony had servants for his household. The governor of Plimoth or
Plymouth may not have because those folks were not sent to America
by a company and they elected their governor whereas colonies
established by companies had governors who were appointed by the
  board members of the company.
