Interesting. A relatively new politician (three campaigns in about as many years), running on a positions that basically mimic the Libertarian Party platform and earning the endorsement of the local Republican Party, earns about 44% of the vote against a career politician and incumbent who has had about thirty years to build his campaign organization, gain name recognition, and develop his fundraising network, and some people look to the "radical" libertarian views as the reason for the election loss.
